C4MI-HSPC Collaboration

The Center for Medical Interoperability (C4MI) and the HSPC recognize the power of their shared vision and mission to impact the delivery of healthcare.  Both organizations are provider-led not-for-profit and focused on leveraging open architecture, standards, and state-of-the-art informatics and information technology to create a world innovative applications and knowledge-driven healthcare decision making is the norm.  This collaboration space supports the joint activities of the two organizations and is open to all who support their mission.

Additional C4MI background information is provided HERE.

Though the two organizations share many of the same core values and objectives, they do have unique and synergistic technical areas of focus, as illustrated in the following graphic:

The C4MI seeks to create an architecture and platform that will achieve plug-and-play interoperability from the vast array of medical device technology that today is either disconnected or is connected at great expense and with little agility.  The HSPC is also creating an open standards-based service-oriented architecture and platform technologies that will achieve true interoperability at the enterprise level of applications, knowledge, content and services.  By working together, both organizations can achieve the liberation of data and democratization of innovation across the entire interoperability continuum.

Collaboration areas include ...

  • Create a shared reference architectural model, spanning the continuum of interoperability
  • Establish coordinated tooling strategies and sandboxes
  • Advance use cases that integrate devices with enterprise applications, knowledge, content and services
  • Pursue reference implementations that validate the reference architecture and platform components and demonstrate true business value
  • Use the C4MI Interoperability Maturity Model as a tool for planning and measuring the realization of interoperable technology
  • Establish a marketplace for innovative solutions based on joint C4MI-HSPC architecture and platforms
