The purpose of this refset is to describe the skin surrounding the wound. Referencing the LOINC concept Description of Periwound 72301-5.

Examples of what to include

Surrounding tissue may present as (http://www.rch.org.au/rchcpg/hospital_clinical_guideline_index/Wound_care/):

• Healthy
• Macerated
• Dry
• Eczematous
• Fragile
• Edema
• Erythema
• Induration (hardening)
• Cellulitis

Examples of what to exclude

Does not include assessment of the wound edge or bed. Periwound color is a different observation therefore, colors should not be in this refset.
